7 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family,A because I have found you righteousB in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of cleanC animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds aliveD throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rainE on the earthF for forty daysG and forty nights,H and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.I” 5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.J 6 Noah was six hundred years oldK when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the arkL to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and uncleanM animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.N 10 And after the seven daysO the floodwaters came on the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life,P on the seventeenth day of the second monthQ—on that day all the springs of the great deepR burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavensS were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.T 13 On that very day Noah and his sons,U Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.V 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind,W everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.X 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah.Y Then the Lord shut him in. 17 For forty daysZ the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.AA 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[a][b] AB 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.AC 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of lifeAD in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth.AE Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.AF 24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.AG 8 But God rememberedAH Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth,AI and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavensAJ had been closed, and the rainAK had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty daysAL the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh monthAM the ark came to rest on the mountainsAN of Ararat.AO 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible. 6 After forty daysAP Noah opened a window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven,AQ and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.AR 8 Then he sent out a doveAS to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. 10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.AT 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him. 13 By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year,AU the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second monthAV the earth was completely dry. 15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.AW 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”AX 18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.AY 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another. 20 Then Noah built an altar to the LordAZ and, taking some of all the clean animals and cleanBA birds, he sacrificed burnt offeringsBB on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aromaBC and said in his heart “Never again will I curse the groundBD because of humans, even though[c] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood.BE And never again will I destroyBF all living creatures,BG as I have done. 22 “As long as the earth endures,seedtime and harvest,BHcold and heat,summer and winter,BIday and nightwill never cease.”BJ God’s Covenant With Noah9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.BK 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.BL 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.BM Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.BN 4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.BO 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.BP I will demand an accounting from every animal.BQ And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.BR 6 “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed;BSfor in the image of GodBT has God made mankind. 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”BU 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him 9 “I now establish my covenant with youBV and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenantBW with youBX Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.BY” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenantBZ I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to comeCA 13 I have set my rainbowCB in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbowCC appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenantCD between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.CE 16 Whenever the rainbowCF appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenantCG between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” 17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenantCH I have established between me and all life on the earth.” The Sons of Noah18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth.CI Ham was the father of Canaan.CJ 19 These were the three sons of Noah,CK and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.CL 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[d] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine,CM he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father nakedCN and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked. 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,“CursedCO be Canaan!CP The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.CQ” 26 He also said,“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!CR May Canaan be the slaveCS of May God extend Japheth’s[e] territory;CT may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,CU and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.” 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.CV The Table of Nations10 This is the accountCW of Shem, Ham and Japheth,CX Noah’s sons,CY who themselves had sons after the flood. The JaphethitesCZ2 The sons[f] of JaphethGomer,DA Magog,DB Madai, Javan,DC Tubal,DD MeshekDE and Tiras. 3 The sons of GomerAshkenaz,DF Riphath and Togarmah.DG 4 The sons of JavanElishah,DH Tarshish,DI the KittitesDJ and the Rodanites.[g] 5 From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.DK The HamitesDL6 The sons of HamCush,DM Egypt, PutDN and Canaan.DO 7 The sons of CushSeba,DP Havilah,DQ Sabtah, RaamahDR and sons of RaamahShebaDS and Dedan.DT 8 Cush was the father[h] of Nimrod,DU who became a mighty warrior on the earth. 9 He was a mightyDV hunterDW before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon,DX Uruk,DY Akkad and Kalneh,DZ in[i] Shinar.[j]EA 11 From that land he went to Assyria,EB where he built Nineveh,EC Rehoboth Ir,[k] Calah 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city. 13 Egypt was the father ofthe Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites from whom the PhilistinesED came and Caphtorites.EE 15 CanaanEF was the father ofSidonEG his firstborn,[l]EH and of the Hittites,EI 16 Jebusites,EJ Amorites,EK Girgashites,EL 17 Hivites,EM Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites,EN Zemarites and Hamathites.EOLater the CanaaniteEP clans scattered 19 and the borders of CanaanEQ reached from SidonER toward GerarES as far as Gaza,ET and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim,EU as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. The SemitesEV21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was[m] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.EW 22 The sons of ShemElam,EX Ashur,EY Arphaxad,EZ Lud and Aram.FA 23 The sons of AramUz,FB Hul, Gether and Meshek.[n] 24 Arphaxad was the father of[o] Shelah,and Shelah the father of Eber.FC 25 Two sons were born to EberOne was named Peleg,[p] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. 26 Joktan was the father ofAlmodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal,FD Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,FE 29 Ophir,FF Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. 32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons,FG according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earthFH after the flood.

7Air bah71-24 1Lalu berfirmanlah Tuhan kepada Nuh ”Masuklah ke dalam bahtera itu, engkau dan seisi rumahmu, sebab engkaulah yang Kulihat benar di hadapan-Ku di antara orang zaman ini. 2Dari segala binatang yang tidak haram haruslah kauambil tujuh pasang, jantan dan betinanya, tetapi dari binatang yang haram satu pasang, jantan dan betinanya; 3juga dari burung-burung di udara tujuh pasang, jantan dan betina, supaya terpelihara hidup keturunannya di seluruh bumi. 4Sebab tujuh hari lagi Aku akan menurunkan hujan ke atas bumi empat puluh hari empat puluh malam lamanya, dan Aku akan menghapuskan dari muka bumi segala yang ada, yang Kujadikan itu.” 5Lalu Nuh melakukan segala yang diperintahkan Tuhan kepadanya. 6Nuh berumur enam ratus tahun, ketika air bah datang meliputi bumi. 7Mat. 2438-39; Luk. 1727 Masuklah Nuh ke dalam bahtera itu bersama-sama dengan anak-anaknya dan isterinya dan isteri anak-anaknya karena air bah itu. 8Dari binatang yang tidak haram dan yang haram, dari burung-burung dan dari segala yang merayap di muka bumi, 9datanglah sepasang mendapatkan Nuh ke dalam bahtera itu, jantan dan betina, seperti yang diperintahkan Allah kepada Nuh. 10Setelah tujuh hari datanglah air bah meliputi bumi. 112Ptr. 36 Pada waktu umur Nuh enam ratus tahun, pada bulan yang kedua, pada hari yang ketujuh belas bulan itu, pada hari itulah terbelah segala mata air samudera raya yang dahsyat dan terbukalah tingkap-tingkap di langit. 12Dan turunlah hujan lebat meliputi bumi empat puluh hari empat puluh malam lamanya. 13Pada hari itu juga masuklah Nuh serta Sem, Ham dan Yafet, anak-anak Nuh, dan isteri Nuh, dan ketiga isteri anak-anaknya bersama-sama dengan dia, ke dalam bahtera itu, 14mereka itu dan segala jenis binatang liar dan segala jenis ternak dan segala jenis binatang melata yang merayap di bumi dan segala jenis burung, yakni segala yang berbulu bersayap; 15dari segala yang hidup dan bernyawa datanglah sepasang mendapatkan Nuh ke dalam bahtera itu. 16Dan yang masuk itu adalah jantan dan betina dari segala yang hidup, seperti yang diperintahkan Allah kepada Nuh; lalu Tuhan menutup pintu bahtera itu di belakang Nuh. 17Empat puluh hari lamanya air bah itu meliputi bumi; air itu naik dan mengangkat bahtera itu, sehingga melampung tinggi dari bumi. 18Ketika air itu makin bertambah-tambah dan naik dengan hebatnya di atas bumi, terapung-apunglah bahtera itu di muka air. 19Dan air itu sangat hebatnya bertambah-tambah meliputi bumi, dan ditutupinyalah segala gunung tinggi di seluruh kolong langit, 20sampai lima belas hasta di atasnya bertambah-tambah air itu, sehingga gunung-gunung ditutupinya. 21Lalu mati binasalah segala yang hidup, yang bergerak di bumi, burung-burung, ternak dan binatang liar dan segala binatang merayap, yang berkeriapan di bumi, serta semua manusia. 22Matilah segala yang ada nafas hidup dalam hidungnya, segala yang ada di darat. 23Demikianlah dihapuskan Allah segala yang ada, segala yang di muka bumi, baik manusia maupun hewan dan binatang melata dan burung-burung di udara, sehingga semuanya itu dihapuskan dari atas bumi; hanya Nuh yang tinggal hidup dan semua yang bersama-sama dengan dia dalam bahtera itu. 24Dan berkuasalah air itu di atas bumi seratus lima puluh hari lamanya. 10Daftar bangsa-bangsa keturunan Sem, Ham dan Yafet101-32 1 1Taw. 15-23 Inilah keturunan Sem, Ham dan Yafet, anak-anak Nuh. Setelah air bah itu lahirlah anak-anak lelaki bagi mereka. 2Keturunan Yafet ialah Gomer, Magog, Madai, Yawan, Tubal, Mesekh dan Tiras. 3Keturunan Gomer ialah Askenas, Rifat dan Togarma. 4Keturunan Yawan ialah Elisa, Tarsis, orang Kitim dan orang Dodanim. 5Dari mereka inilah berpencar bangsa-bangsa daerah pesisir. Itulah keturunan Yafet, masing-masing di tanahnya, dengan bahasanya sendiri, menurut kaum dan bangsa mereka. 6Keturunan Ham ialah Kush, Misraim, Put dan Kanaan. 7Keturunan Kush ialah Seba, Hawila, Sabta, Raema dan Sabtekha; anak-anak Raema ialah Syeba dan Dedan. 8Kush memperanakkan Nimrod; dialah yang mula-mula sekali orang yang berkuasa di bumi; 9ia seorang pemburu yang gagah perkasa di hadapan Tuhan, sebab itu dikatakan orang ”Seperti Nimrod, seorang pemburu yang gagah perkasa di hadapan Tuhan.” 10Mula-mula kerajaannya terdiri dari Babel, Erekh, dan Akad, semuanya di tanah Sinear. 11Dari negeri itu ia pergi ke Asyur, lalu mendirikan Niniwe, Rehobot-Ir, Kalah 12dan Resen di antara Niniwe dan Kalah; itulah kota besar itu. 13Misraim memperanakkan orang Ludim, orang Anamim, orang Lehabim, orang Naftuhim, 14orang Patrusim, orang Kasluhim dan orang Kaftorim; dari mereka inilah berasal orang Filistin. 15Kanaan memperanakkan Sidon, anak sulungnya, dan Het, 16serta orang Yebusi, orang Amori dan orang Girgasi; 17orang Hewi, orang Arki, orang Sini, 18orang Arwadi, orang Semari dan orang Hamati; kemudian berseraklah kaum-kaum orang Kanaan itu. 19Daerah orang Kanaan adalah dari Sidon ke arah Gerar sampai ke Gaza, ke arah Sodom, Gomora, Adma dan Zeboim sampai ke Lasa. 20Itulah keturunan Ham menurut kaum mereka, menurut bahasa mereka, menurut tanah mereka, menurut bangsa mereka. 21Lahirlah juga anak-anak bagi Sem, bapa semua anak Eber serta abang Yafet. 22Keturunan Sem ialah Elam, Asyur, Arpakhsad, Lud dan Aram. 23Keturunan Aram ialah Us, Hul, Geter dan Mas. 24Arpakhsad memperanakkan Selah, dan Selah memperanakkan Eber. 25Bagi Eber lahir dua anak laki-laki; nama yang seorang ialah Peleg, sebab dalam zamannya bumi terbagi, dan nama adiknya ialah Yoktan. 26Yoktan memperanakkan Almodad, Selef, Hazar-Mawet dan Yerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal dan Dikla, 28Obal, Abimael dan Syeba, 29Ofir, Hawila dan Yobab; itulah semuanya keturunan Yoktan. 30Daerah kediaman mereka terbentang dari Mesa ke arah Sefar, yaitu pegunungan di sebelah timur. 31Itulah keturunan Sem, menurut kaum mereka, menurut bahasa mereka, menurut tanah mereka, menurut bangsa mereka. 32Itulah segala kaum anak-anak Nuh menurut keturunan mereka, menurut bangsa mereka. Dan dari mereka itulah berpencar bangsa-bangsa di bumi setelah air bah itu.
